End of August

It’s hard to believe that this is the last weekend in August! Where has the month gone? The days are already getting a little shorter and the evenings are considerably cooler, but luckily it’s still hot during the day!

Sunday we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and spent a good amount of time outside.  James got a lot of mowing done or at least as much as he could considering the finishing mower is broke (again!).

We also spent some time by the pool, where the butterflies and bees have been going crazy over the tall flowering plants along the border.

The butterflies have been going crazy over these flowers!

The bonanza of butterflies flying around the pool only encouraged my addiction to taking more pictures of them!  It’s an awful addiction, but they are so colorful and full of life that I just can’t seem to help myself!

Balloon Festival

Friday after work, James and I made the quick trip over to Lincoln Airport for the balloon portion of their Art & Balloon Festival. James had never been to a balloon festival, but he definitely came prepared with two cameras (one for each of us), plenty of memory, and fresh batteries!

The balloons were just starting to fill up when we got there, so we got the full experience of seeing them flat on the ground to sailing above our heads in the sky!

The collage includes individual pictures of some of the balloons we saw… aren’t the color combination’s fun?  And the weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky and a very light wind!

Some of the many hot air balloons at the festival!

We had an enjoyable time and James even remarked it was the best $5 he’s spent in a while! 😉

Last free weekend

This weekend was technically our last free weekend before classes started for the Fall… Yet, with everything we both needed to do, it definitely was not that relaxing!  I was busy cleaning the house, doing laundry, and answering student e-mails to the help desk.  James was busy trying to finish preparing for his courses this semester.  He’s teaching Statistics, Calculus & Analytic Geometry 1 and Calculus & Analytic Geometry 3.

Luckily, even with everything we had to do, we both were able to spend some time outside…

James, as you can see from the pictures below, took his homework outside with him and took a pool break every once in a while.

I was able to actually do some pleasure reading by the pool and also wandered around the yard snapping pictures of the flowers and (of course) more butterflies!

Garden Collage

Hello, my name is Kona and I have an addiction… I am addicted to taking pictures of my garden and it’s inhabitants! Winter is just so cold and dreary and WHITE… and summer is just so warm and vibrant and COLORFUL, I just can’t help myself!  Every time I go outside to weed, water the garden, or even just swim I end up with the camera taking pictures! The following pictures are *mostly* new from this weekend, but I threw in a few pictures from the last couple of weeks just to fill out the collage and really emphasize the range of colors, textures, and insects we have in the garden!
