It is hard to believe, but Reagan is one year old today!! Our little Miss has grown and changed so much in the last year that it’s sometimes hard to remember her as our little baby girl.

Reagan then and now! What a difference a year can make!
Because time goes so fast and memories fade, I am thankful I created a special page on our blog just for “Keeping up with Reagan.” This page documents her birth, well baby check-ups, major developmental milestones, monthly videos/updates, and weekly updates!! I might have majorly struck out on trying to keep up with Reagan’s baby book, but I think I hit a home run with all the pictures, video, and documentation of everything she’s done in the last year!

Happy First Birthday!!
Below are some of the highlights from the year:
Growth
Even though my doctor predicted that Reagan would be a small baby, she surprised us all by coming in at 7lbs 8pz and 20 5/8 inches at birth. While that was an average size, Reagan took to nursing like a champ and quickly jumped to the top of the growth curve.
- Birth – 7lbs 8 oz & 20 5/8 inches
- Two Months – 13 lbs 13.8 oz & 24 5/8 inches
- Four Months – 18 lbs 4 oz & 26 inches
- Six Months – 20 lbs 0.64 oz & 27 3/4 inches
- Nine Months – 22 lbs 3.4 oz & 29 1/8 inch
- Twelve Months – ??
We don’t go for Reagan’s well baby check-up and official measurements until January, but my guess is that her weight hasn’t increased too much, but that she’s definitely gained some in height! I’m basing this entirely from the fact that her pants are finally fitting her better around the waist (not as tight) and length wise (not as long)!

Looking good!
Eating wise, Reagan was exclusively breastfed (and breastmilk fed while Mommy was at work) for almost the first six months. We started solids around 5.5 months with little tastes of real food. Reagan has NEVER had processed baby food and especially no rice cereal. We’ve always given her little bits of real food and let her feed herself, but we never pushed it and some days she never had any solids. Around 7.5 months we started giving Reagan solids more regularly and I also started sending homemade purees and slices of fruit and veggies with Reagan to the babysitter. Reagan loved fresh fruit and veggies, but would normally suck the juices out of everything and then spit most of it back out! This continued until about 11 months when we finally noticed Reagan actually eating food and especially meat! Reagan is a big meat eater and will eat all types of meat! As of one year, Reagan is eating more and more solid food, but still nurses (gets breastmilk) for her primary source of nutrition. The benefits of nursing/breastmilk extend far past one year and I am letting Reagan wean herself from nursing. I imagine the older she gets and more solids she eats the less she will nurse, but I’ll let Reagan set her own timeline for that.
Developmental Milestones
Reagan has reached a number of large developmental milestones over the last year and each one has been just as exciting as the first!
Reagan is crazy close to being a full blown walker. She can walk quite a bit and even bend down and pick things up and turn around and keep walking!

Walking, walking, walking!
Reagan also has a lot of teeth! I’m not 100% sure on the number because she hates it when we try and get into her mouth. We do know she has her top four and bottom four front teeth and at least 3-4 bottom middle teeth with top middle teeth close to coming in as well!

Check out the teeth!!
Additional milestones we’ve really noticed in the last month is Reagan’s interest in books, wanting to knowing what things are, and her ability to pick out what something is if you ask her. These skills and interests have exploded in the last month and I love how her brain is like a sponge trying to gather as much information as possible. Reagan doesn’t talk much yet, but you can tell the gears are definitely turning and it won’t be long!
Travel
Our hope is that the travel bug will bite Reagan and she will grow up loving to see new and different things. To get her started on the right foot, we went on three major vacations and one weekend trip that accounted for Reagan visiting and doing something in 18 different states and one different country (Canada) in her first year.

States Reagan has visited by trip. Pink is the Michigan trip. Blue is the Omaha trip. Green is the Florida trip.
Reagan visited the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. This is an accumulation from our Michigan trip, Omaha trip, and Florida trip. We also took a fourth trip between the Omaha and Florida vacations and cruised down the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers on a paddle wheel boat and then visited the St. Louis Arch.

Checking out the hotel room!
Reagan has also traveled pretty extensively in her home state of Illinois and has already visited almost half of the different counties. There are 102 counties in Illinois and Reagan has visited 45 of them during our travels this year.

Illinois Counties Reagan has visited!
Reagan has seen and done a lot of different things during our travels, but one of the big things she has done is visit six zoo’s in four different states and one different country, as well as two aquariums:
- Canada
- Omaha, NE
- Pigeon Forge, TN
- Charleston, NC
- Montgomery, AL
- Gulf Breeze, FL
- Destin, FL
Personality
Reagan has so much life and energy and is such a happy little girl. Reagan absolutely charms everyone she meets and it never gets old hearing strangers tell us how adorable/cute she is and how much personality she has. When we are out and about it is quite common to hear this from at least 2-3 people. Reagan is quite the little ham and will smile, wave, and now blow kisses at people that look at her, much less give her attention! She loves being out in social situations and watching people. Yet, Reagan will not go to just anyone and prefers to be adored (and give smiles) from the safety of Mommy or Daddy’s arms.

Our little girl just oozes personality and loves people!!
Overall
Our little girl has been very busy in the last year and it is hard to remember her as the tiny little baby we brought home from the hospital. Reagan is truly the best of both James and I and we are amazingly lucky to have her in our lives. It has been a crazy and amazing first year and we can’t wait to see what the next hold!
