Faces of Reagan

Monday night Reagan and Daddy were in the office and after making Reagan a *hat* James got the following pictures…

And when James specifically asked her to “smile” for him this was the face she made…

And this was Reagan's *smile* face!

Guess we’ll have to work on this one… 😉

Summary

This month not only was I on a Cynthia Eden kick, but I also worked my way through a number of series (yes, I’m a sucker when it comes to new series) and follow-up books to ones I’ve previously read. Out of all of them my favorite was probably the Driven trilogy by K Bromberg, but overall it was a pretty good (and prolific) month of reading.

Check out the other books I’ve read so far this year:

Working outside

Sunday was a pretty nice day out so we headed outside and got some work done on the garden, and played in the sand (of course!).

Reagan is ready to go!!

Reagan is ready to go!!

I haven’t really had a garden for a few years, so I’m really excited to have one this year! I’ve already gotten my seeds and just need the ground ready and the weather to warm up!

James doesn’t have the perfect implements to plow up the garden, but he’s getting it broken up as much as possible with the big tractor before he has to get the hand tiller out to really get it ready.

After helping Daddy with the garden for a while Reagan decided she was ready to go play in the sand!

Playing in the sand!

Fun in the sand!

It was a good day and we finished it by taking a walk/tractor ride out to the pond to see how it’s looking.

Twenty-seven months

Reagan is twenty-seven months old and her verbal and cognitive skills are growing by leaps and bounds! We are so lucky to have this little monkey in our lives!

Reagan has been playing a lot more with her toys this month, but seems to spend the most time with her mommy and baby safari and farm animal sets. Even though she’s had them for a while now they still seem to be her *go-to* toy to play with. She also does some fun pretend play with her Clifford and Friends stuffed animals, as well as her baby doll, mostly them needing to eat/drink, are tired and need a nap, or are sick.

Yet, her favorite things to do seem to center around water (mostly playing in the sink) and art projects. She loves coloring and drawing (crayons, markers, or pens/pencils), but what she really loves is having Daddy make various things out of paper and then gluing them onto other colors of paper! Reagan knows where everything is in Daddy’s office and will run in there telling him they need to make something for Mommy. It’s very cute and James’ does a (amazingly) good job creating things out of paper.

Overall Reagan keeps us on our toes and quite busy! She is a whirlwind of activity and her talking and word usage is becoming better and better every day! We can’t wait to see what the next month has in store for all of us!

Hi chicks!

Today after work we had to run some errands and ended up at Rural King – for popcorn and to see the baby chicks of course.

As Reagan was running around looking at the baby chicks and ducklings I guess she felt like she needed to introduce herself because she’d run up to the baby chicks and wave at them while saying, “Hi Chicks! Me Reagan!” And yes, it was the cutest thing ever!

Fuel for my addiction

As if I needed more fuel for my addiction (I’m well on my way to reading 30 books this month!), I just got an email this morning from Amazon letting me know that,

Good news! You are entitled to a credit of $58.94 for some of your past Kindle book purchases. The credit results from legal settlements reached with publishers Hachette, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, and Penguin in antitrust lawsuits filed by State Attorneys General and Class Plaintiffs about the price of eBooks.

Yep, I’ve now got almost $59 worth of credit for electronic and/or print books at Amazon!! This was tabulated based the number of books a person purchased between April 2010 and May 2012 and whether the book was a New York Times bestseller. For bestseller books the refund amount was $3.17, while for other books it was $0.73.

Guess this means I paid for quite a few books over that two year period! I didn’t get a break down of which books qualified and how much I got back for individual books, but based on the $3.17 to $0.73 dollar amounts and my overall refund of $58.94 it could have been from 18 to 80 books! And now, I’ve got the money to shop for even more! 🙂

Random Sunday stuff

After our crazy day Saturday, we slept in Sunday and just bummed around the house playing and napping.

Mixy

Lately Reagan has really been into mixing things. More specifically she really likes to mix eggs, but in general almost every day we hear her telling us she wants to “mixy mixy!”

Reagan normally makes a heck of a mess when she mixes, but she has such a good time it’s hard to deny her!

Microwave

Saturday morning I got up like normal and went to make my instant oatmeal; I have oatmeal for breakfast almost every morning. Everything seemed like it was working as normal until the microwave dinged that it was finished and there was an icky burning smell and my oatmeal was ice cold. I then had the pleasure of waking James up on one of his few days off and letting him know that the microwave (we use at least once a day) was no longer working.  Yeah, lots of fun first thing Saturday morning!

Upon further inspection the diagnosis was that yes, the microwave was toast.

Hole where the microwave should go. :-(

Hole where the microwave should go. 🙁

Because our microwave is an above the range one (installed above our stove), we couldn’t just go out and buy any microwave, so James had to get online and do a bit of research. He found a microwave that we both liked, but it was only in stock at Menard’s in Springfield. Thus we got dressed and headed to Springfield for an impromptu road trip!

We got the microwave, but then decided that since we were already in the area we’d head over to Scheels. Scheels is a huge sporting goods store with large aquariums of fish, Ferris wheel, cafe (with gelato), and lots of mounted wild animals!

While we wandered around Scheels we ended up in their Cafe and Reagan and I decided to try some of their gelato (aka Italian ice cream). Reagan looked at the different flavors and decided she wanted the “pink” kind. I told her this was strawberry (which she likes) and she said yes, that’s what she wanted. I went with the chocolate (of course) and we sat down to enjoy our treat.

Reagan seemed to be enjoying her gelato, but I thought I’d offer her a bite of mine (just to be nice). Reagan took one bite and grabbed my chocolate gelato and said “MINE!” I told her no, that the chocolate was Mommy’s and the pink was Reagan’s and she said “No! Mommy pink! Reagan chocolate!!” She then used two spoons to devour all my chocolate gelato while I got to eat her (ok, but not chocolate) strawberry gelato. Good think for her Mommy loves her a LOT! 😉

At least she has good taste!

After finishing our gelato and cleaning Reagan up, we headed home to install the new microwave!

Once James got the microwave installed, it was time to test it out! We decided a bag of microwave popcorn would work perfectly and Reagan was exited to help!

The microwave worked exactly right and I am extremely glad that even though it took pretty much our whole Saturday, we didn’t have to go without a microwave for more than a morning!

Clifford

Reagan has gone through a number of stages in her TV viewing. She started with Partysaurus Rex, then Super Why for a while, next came Daniel Tiger, and just recently she’s really been enjoying Clifford. She gets fixated on one show and that’s the only show she wants to watch.

In fact, she’s been enjoying Clifford so much that I went ahead and got her all four of the main dog characters (Clifford, T-Bone, Cleo, & Mac – and yes, she can tell you everyone’s name!). Kohls must have sold them fairly recently because there were a lot of them available on eBay and I was able to buy all four for a fairly good price. And yes, they were worth every penny when Reagan opened the bag and saw what was inside!

Reagan pulled Mac out first and wasn't sure what was going on.

Then she pulled Clifford out and started to figure things out!

It was pretty cute to see Reagan’s reaction to having her favorite characters as stuffed animals and she’s been playing with them ever since! Her favorites seem to be T-Bone (it kills me when she says this, it’s that cute) and Clifford. She doesn’t seem to like Cleo that much, but will let her tag along with the others.
